QuickBooks Migration Services

Moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online is more than simply transferring a file. A successful migration requires careful planning, review, and verification to ensure your financial information is transferred accurately and your new QuickBooks Online file is set up to support your business going forward.

Ready to move your books to the cloud? Let’s make the transition smooth, organized, and stress-free.

What Does Moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online Involve?

A migration is a planned project, not a single export. I review your existing QuickBooks Desktop company file, prepare it for conversion, move your data into QuickBooks Online, set up and configure the new company, then verify that opening balances, receivables, payables, and key reports carry over.

  • Chart of Accounts, lists, and class or tracking structure review
  • Data migration into QuickBooks Online
  • Desktop file preparation and conversion
  • Identification of items that may not transfer directly
  • Opening balances, receivables, and payables review
  • Post-migration verification, cleanup, and troubleshooting
  • Pre-migration file review, assessment, and planning
  • QuickBooks Online company setup and configuration

A Migration Built Around Your Business

I work with small businesses in Burlington, across Halton and Hamilton, and remotely throughout Ontario. Every QuickBooks Desktop file is different. Some carry years of historical data, complex class structures, long customer and vendor lists, payroll history, or a Chart of Accounts that has grown over time. Before the migration I review your file and agree on the approach with you. Where it helps, I can simplify and reorganize your Chart of Accounts and lists, so you are not carrying clutter into your new system.

The goal is not just to move your books. It is to give you a cleaner, more efficient QuickBooks Online setup, ready for the way your business operates today.

Once your data has moved, I review the new file with you, confirm the key balances and reports, and flag anything that needs adjustment.

You may plan to manage the books internally, stay with your current bookkeeper, or move to ongoing bookkeeping support with me. In every case, the new file is ready for whoever handles it next.

Optional Add-On Services

Your migration does not have to end when the data moves. These setup and training services can be added to your migration package, based on what you need.

QuickBooks Online Training

Personalized training so you and your team can navigate QuickBooks Online with confidence and understand the features you will use day to day.

Customized Invoice Setup

Your QuickBooks Online invoices customized to reflect your business and branding, and to carry the information your customers need.

Bank & Credit Card Feed Connections

Help connecting and configuring your business bank and credit card accounts within QuickBooks Online, so your new file is ready to work in.

QuickBooks Online Payroll Setup

Setup and configuration of QuickBooks Online Payroll, including payroll settings and employee setup, to help make your move from Desktop payroll as smooth as possible.

QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online migrations are quoted individually based on the size, complexity, condition, and history of the company file. Optional setup and training services are quoted separately and can be added to your migration package based on your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to clean up my QuickBooks Desktop file before migrating?

No, not on your own. I review your file first and tell you what is worth tidying before the move and what is better handled afterward. Some cleanup is easier in QuickBooks Desktop, and some is easier once your data is in QuickBooks Online. You do not have to sort it out on your own.

Can I keep my current bookkeeper after the migration?

Yes. A migration does not commit you to ongoing bookkeeping with me. I set the new QuickBooks Online file up so your bookkeeper can pick it up cleanly, which means sorting out their user access, showing them where things landed after the conversion, and noting anything that changed along the way.

What happens after my data is moved?

I review the new QuickBooks Online file with you. That means confirming opening balances, checking outstanding receivables and payables, comparing key reports against your QuickBooks Desktop records, and flagging anything that needs adjustment. If something did not carry over cleanly, we deal with it then rather than months later.
